Introduction

Dear All!
I created this Blog to exchange thoughts and opinions on a US Truth Commission.
After the end of the Bush Administration there were a lot of people who asked for a US Truth Commission, that would investigate the use of torture and other alleged abuses of the law by this Administration. (According to an Article from the NY Times, from 03/02/2012)
In that article it said, that Obama was "more interested in looking forward than I am in looking backwards."

I think, that such a Truth Commission about possible violations of International Law is not only a sign of looking backwards, but one looking into the future as well. It would help victims of torture cope with their abuse and it would increase the credibilty of US actions throughout the world. In addition, it would help ensure that such violations would not be repeated. Furthermore I would not limit such a Truth Commission to investigations into the Bush Administration however, but also into the current Administration and its undertakings. To implement such a Commission an act of Congress or the President himself is needed.

Here is, where the public comes into play. In order to push politicians to implement such a Commission, the international community and the American public must demonstrate strong interest in its creation.

That is why I would like to know what you people out there think about this topic!
It would be very nice if you could post your opinions together with your name and where you come from.

Thank you very much!

I wish you all the best!

Nicole
